Who We Are

Real people designing spaces that actually work with nature, not against it

Our sustainable approach

Our Story

Look, we're not gonna feed you some corporate line about being "passionate innovators" or whatever. Truth is, we started this studio back in 2011 because we were tired of seeing Vancouver's beautiful landscape get covered with cookie-cutter buildings that ignore their surroundings.

Our founder had spent years working for bigger firms, watching projects prioritize profit margins over environmental impact. That didn't sit right. So we broke off and started doing things differently - designing buildings that breathe with their environment instead of dominating it.

These days, we're a team of twelve architects, designers, and sustainability consultants who genuinely care about what we're putting into the world. Sure, we've won some awards and gotten featured in a few magazines, but honestly? The best part is when a client walks into their finished space and just... gets it.

What We Do

How We Think About Design

Every site tells you what it wants to be. Our job's listening instead of imposing some pre-made vision.

Site-First Thinking

We spend way more time than most firms just observing a location. Where does the sun hit? How does water move through? What's already growing there? You'd be surprised how much a piece of land tells you if you're patient enough to listen. Buildings should enhance their surroundings, not fight them.

Materials Matter

We're picky about what goes into our projects. Local materials when possible, reclaimed stuff when it makes sense, and always thinking about where something came from and where it'll end up. That barn wood paneling isn't just aesthetic - it's got a story and a lower carbon footprint than new lumber.

Long-Term Vision

Anyone can design something that looks good on Instagram. We're more interested in how it'll perform in 20 years. Will it still be energy-efficient? Can it adapt to changing needs? Is it built to last, or will it need replacing in a decade? Sustainability isn't just about solar panels - it's about longevity.

Real Budget Talk

Let's be honest - sustainable design can cost more upfront. But we're transparent about costs and work hard to find solutions that don't break the bank. Sometimes it's about phasing, sometimes it's about creative material choices. We won't sell you stuff you don't need just because it's trendy.

Where Nature Meets Modern Design

That's not just a tagline we slapped on for marketing. It's genuinely how we approach every single project that crosses our desks. Modern design gives us efficiency, clean lines, and contemporary living. Nature gives us context, sustainability, and honestly - better mental health for the people using the space.

Combining them isn't always easy, but it's always worth it.

Why We're Based in Vancouver

Vancouver's this interesting mix of urban density and natural beauty that's pretty rare. You've got mountains right there, ocean nearby, forests within city limits. It's made us think differently about how buildings interact with their environment.

We've also gotten to work on everything from downtown commercial spaces to residential projects up in the North Shore mountains. That variety keeps us sharp and reminds us there's no one-size-fits-all approach to sustainable design.

Plus, BC's building codes and environmental standards push us to keep innovating. Sometimes regulations can be frustrating, but they've definitely made us better architects.
